A hospital and school were briefly put on lockdown Wednesday morning while police pursued and apprehended a fugitive in the area.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, at 8:30 Wednesday morning a detective saw Dustin McReynolds, who was wanted for failure to appear and bail jumping, walking on West Broadway around North 18th Street in Mayfield. As the detective pulled up beside McReynolds and told him he was being arrested, McReynolds reportedly fled on foot behind a house into a briar thicket along a fence row.

Police said they chased McReynolds down North 18th Street and onto the golf course at the Mayfield Golf and Country Club. At that point, K-9 units from the sheriff’s office and Mayfield Police joined in on the chase. McReynolds continued running, exiting the golf course into the Links Subdivision and then crossing over KY 121 and running onto the property of the Jackson Purchase Medical Center.

The hospital was put on lockdown, along with the Graves County High School campus. Police said McReynolds was able to get a ride to his home just east of Mayfield off of KY-1710. As officers arrived in the area, they said McReynolds fled on foot again to a nearby house. Police apprehended McReynolds at around 11:00 am inside the house without incident.

McReynolds was taken to the Graves County Jail, and was served the outstanding warrants for failure to appear and bail jumping 2nd Degree. He is now also charged with Fleeing and Evading Police.
