Former Mayfield Mayor, Wayne Potts, has passed away.
 
Mr. Potts, 79, of Mayfield, passed away at 1:20 am Saturday May 11th, at Baptist Health Paducah.
 
He was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon,. He was retired from the US Air Force, was a former Police Officer at the Mayfield Police Department, retired from the Postal Service, was a former Mayor of Mayfield, and also formerly served on the Mayfield City Council.
 
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Smith Potts, 2 daughters; Cathy (Joe) Richard of Mayfield and Laura (Shawn) Marrs of Mayfield, 2 sons; Anthony W. (Jennifer) Potts of Ft. Belvoir, VA and Travis Potts of Mayfield, 5 sisters; Maxine Holshouser, Alice Gossum, Kaye Suiter and Lou Dean Austin all of Mayfield and Rebecca Moore of Senatobia, MS. 5 brothers; Willie Joe Potts of Oklahoma City, OK. James Potts and Billie Potts both of Mayfield, Ray Potts of Fancy Farm and Kenny Potts of Paducah, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie D. and Mary Frances Hopkins Potts.
 
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday May 14th at Northside Baptist Church with Revs. Al Chandler, Monte Hodges, and David Gossum officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayfield Memory Gardens. Friends may call after 5:00 pm Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield, and after 10:00 am Tuesday at Northside Baptist Church.
 
Pallbearers will be Anthony Potts, Travis Potts, Taylor Potts, Haden Marrs, Isaac Marrs and Denis Marrs. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #26.
