Four people were arrested on various charges in Graves County Thursday.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, 31-year-old William McCampbell, of Mayfield, appeared in Graves District Court Wednesday afternoon. Recordings and video footage from the jail were obtained and, according to deputies, McCampbell bribed 58-year-old Carla Brown, of Mayfield, into accepting his drug trafficking charges from an arrest earlier this month in exchange for compensation. Deputies also said Brown used the name of another person when she signed the official visitor's log at the Graves County Jail.

Officers went to a home on West Walnut Street in Mayfield to speak with Brown, where they encountered 22-year-old Javonte Williams, of Mayfield. While speaking with Williams, he consented to a search of his bedroom. Methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were reportedly found in the room.

Brown then consented to a search of the home, where deputies found marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police also found 42-year-old Johnny Smith, of Mayfield, in a bedroom.

Williams, Brown and Smith were all transported to the Graves County Jail. When deputies opened the door of the police car to let Brown out, they found her attempting to hide pills in the back seat of the car. Once inside the jail, police say Brown attempted to hide another pill in her hand and even more pills were found in her pocket. During a more complete search of Brown, she was found in possession of a glass meth pipe.

McCampbell, who was already an inmate at the time of his arrest Thursday, was charged with bribing a witness. Brown is charged with theft of identity, two counts of promoting contraband, two counts of tampering with physical evidence, possession of meth, possession of controlled substance, prescription not in the proper container, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Williams was charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
