A man wanted on numerous felony theft charges was arrested in Graves County Monday morning.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, deputies went to a home on Snow Lane in Pryorsburg looking for another man that was also wanted by police. While there, deputies learned that 41-year old Richard W. Cook was inside the home.

Police entered the home and found Cook hiding in a closet. As deputies tried to arrest Cook, he reportedly resisted and assaulted a deputy by striking him in the face with his fist.

Deputies had a brief struggle with Cook before he was subdued and handcuffed. Cook was arrested on four outstanding arrest warrants charging him with four counts of probation violation for the underlying charges of receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking.

He was also charged with resisting arrest and 3rd degree assault on a police officer.

Cook was lodged in the Graves County Regional Jail.
