Fuller Named Dean of MSU College of Science
By WestKyStar & MSU Staff
MURRAY - Dr. Claire Fuller has been named dean of the Murray State University Jesse D. Jones College of Science, Engineering and Technology, effective July 1.

Fuller is a biological sciences professor who has served as interim dean since July 1, 2018, after former dean Dr. Steve Cobb stepped down from the position to return to teaching.

The Murray State University Board of Regents recently announced Fuller’s appointment after a successful search process.

“The Jesse D. Jones College of Science, Engineering, and Technology has always benefited from great leadership in the dean’s office and Dr. Fuller will be no exception,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Mark Arant. “The success of a dean is directly dependent on the talent of the faculty, staff and students within the college. By combining Claire’s leadership and the resident talents within the college, great days are certainly on the horizon.”

Fuller is a broadly-trained ecologist with specializations in animal behavior, population ecology and parasitology. She received her Ph.D and master’s degree in zoology at Oregon State University and earned her undergraduate degree at the University of California. She has served as a faculty member in the Department of Biological Sciences since 1997.

Additionally, Fuller has co-authored nearly 20 biology publications.

“I’m honored and humbled to serve as dean of this institution,” Fuller said. “I look forward to continuing the tradition of academic excellence set by this college and Murray State as a whole.”
