Damage to the walkway and graffiti on the Canal Bridge near Grand Rivers have created issues for inspectors.

Over the past year vandals have covered the bridge with graffiti and cut the security gate off the catwalk which provides access to the bridge substructure. The vandalism concerns officials due to the danger it poses to inspection personnel.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineer Kyle Poat said they are looking at a number of options to address the situation, including cutting back the overgrown brush around the bridge or placing a security camera beneath the bridge.

KYTC asks anyone with relevant information to contact the Kentucky State Police.
