The Graves County Sheriff's Office says the semi was traveling south on State Route 121 North near Dowdy Road when the trailer tires began to go off of the right side of the road. The driver, Jamaica Smith of Lilbourn, MO, overcorrected causing the trailer to go further into the ditch, striking a concrete culvert.
The trailer then overturned onto the passenger side and began sliding down the ditch. The tractor crossed into the oncoming lane and overturned. The trailer then struck a mailbox and a tree, then dragged the tractor back across the roadway. The semi came to rest on the passenger side on the southbound shoulder of the roadway.
Smith was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
