A Graves County man faces felony charges after a two-year-old child was accidentally shot earlier this month.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers charged 25-year-old Zachary Page with first degree wanton endangerment after an investigation into the shooting.

On Oct. 1, troopers responded to a report that the child had been shot near Sedalia in Graves County. The investigation revealed the toddler gained access to a holstered handgun, which led to the accidental firing of the weapon.

The child was air-lifted to a Nashville hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Police said their investigation showed Page failed to secure the weapon properly. They arrested him Monday after consulting with the Graves Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. He was booked into the Graves County Jail.
