The man who was appointed as Graves County Sheriff earlier this year is going to run for the office in November.
Jon Hayden, who retired as McCracken County Sheriff in 2018, was appointed to replace Sheriff Dewayne Redmon in February, after Redmon died. Since Redmon was still in office when the deadline passed to file for the May primary election, each party is submitting a candidate for the November general election. Jason Clark has been chosen by the Graves County Republican Party, and Hayden announced on Facebook Saturday that he will officially announce his candidacy on Monday at Kess Creek Park.
The post said, "I would appreciate your support and your presence if you are available. My goal is to continue with things we have started for the remainder of Sheriffs Redmon's unexpired term."
Hayden, a native of Graves County, and graduate of Fancy Farm High School, has been in law enforcement for twenty nine years, and served twelve years as the McCracken County Sheriff. He and his wife recently moved back to Graves County.
