A preliminary hearing for the man involved in a Memorial Day standoff in Paducah has been delayed by a week.

According to the McCracken District Court Clerk, 44-year-old Wade Alexander refused to come to the courtroom for his hearing, so the judge moved the hearing to June 11 at 1 pm.

A not guilty plea was entered on Alexander's behalf during his arraignment on May 29 in response to charges of kidnapping, first-degree wanton endangerment and third-degree terroristic threatening.

Alexander was arrested on the evening of May 25 after a standoff on Buckner Lane that started at 7:30 am. Paducah Police said Alexander threatened his sister with a shotgun and a knife and held her against her will for about two hours. Alexander also allegedly threatened his sister's boyfriend, and endangered his 19-year-old nephew, who was sleeping in the basement.

Police entered the home and arrested Alexander without incident about 5:30 pm.
