Hickman City Commissioner Phillip Williams died in a single-vehicle crash on Thursday morning.

According to the Fulton County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded about 6:00 am to the scene of a crash on Kentucky Highway 125 near the "Y" intersection with KY 166. The accident investigation determined that the 42-year-old Williams' car left the road and flipped several times.

He was taken to Union City Baptist Memorial Hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Williams had served as Hickman City Commissioner since 2007. The Sheriff's Department says he also was bookkeeper for the Fulton County middle school and high school girls' basketball teams.
