A Muhlenberg County man was able to escape the county jail Saturday afternoon, but was recaptured.

Kentucky State Police say they were called by the Muhlenberg County Detention Center at 4:13 pm because 25-year-old Nicholas Barbre of Greenville had escaped. Police say he ran out the rear door and fled in the direction of Pritchett Drive. A deputy jailer reportedly found Barbre along Pritchett Drive about 5:30 pm, and he was taken back into custody.

Barbre was returned to the detention center and was charged with escape 2nd degree.
