The leader of an indoor marijuana growing operation has been sentenced to more than 19 years in federal prison on drug distribution and gun possession charges.

U.S. District Judge Thomas B. Russell handed down the sentence for 70-year-old Dallas Norris of Barren County this week, along with sentencing nine co-defendants to either prison or probation for their roles in the scheme.

Kentucky State Police say the sophisticated indoor marijuana growing operation was one of the largest of its kind discovered in Kentucky. Troopers recovered 1,267 marijuana plants from Norris' Glasgow home in November 2011.

Norris also forfeited a 2006 Ford F-250 truck and property located in Barren County, Ky., and Jackson County, Ohio.
