McKell Davis was crowned Purchase District Fair Queen at the revised 2012 Purchase District Fair – the pageant being the first in several years for the local event. Winning the local title gave her a chance to compete for Miss Kentucky County Fair recently at the pageant in Louisville.

Each year the pageant is held in conjunction with the Kentucky Association of Horses and Fairs Association’s convention. This year, Davis placed 3rd Runner Up in that pageant.

Davis, 19, is a 2012 graduate of Heath High School and is currently a freshman at Murray State University, where she is majoring in Agriculture Education. She is no stranger to the pageant sector, having competed in them since she was fifteen years old.

“I did them because they were on my bucket list,” Davis said.

Other credits for Davis include being the 1st Runner up at the 2011 Kentucky State Fair, and 2010 Miss Kentucky County Fair. Most recently, she competed for the title of Miss Kentucky USA, where she placed fifth in the competition.

Tina Williams coordinated the Purchase District Fair Queen/Princess and other pageants in conjunction with the Purchase District Fair. Pageants are planned again for this year’s fair.

For more information, watch the City of Mayfield’s Facebook page, as well as the City’s website for downloadable application forms. The Purchase District Fair is scheduled this year for June 5-8, 2013.
