At a called meeting on Monday, the Lyon County Board of Education voted on and approved an amended school calendar. Under the changes the first day of school has been moved to August 24. The school's previous start date was August 11.
Additionally, the board extended the school day by 30 minutes, with Lyon County Schools now running from 7:45 a.m. till 3:15 p.m.
School officials say the changes will give them the additional flexibility needed to address current public health concerns.
