Murray State University alumna and former Board of Regents member Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton, ’69, will return to campus once again as the honorary speaker for the Class of 1969 Golden Reunion Dinner October 18 at 6 pm.
Since graduating from Murray State with her bachelor’s degree in 1969, Thornton has excelled in her higher education career. She is currently the CEO of Dream Catcher Educational Services, advising new college and university presidents. She also serves on several boards and has worked with numerous organizations, such as the American Association of Community Colleges, to guide and set a vision for community colleges in the 21st century.
Thornton gives credit to Murray State as the launchpad from which she began her career. With Homecoming approaching, she has reflected on her time as a young student: the memories, the people, what she learned and how she grew.
Throughout her successes and endeavors beyond the gates of campus, Thornton continues to be a proud Racer alumna, giving back through the Jerry Sue and John Barlow Pritchett Minority Scholarship and her prior service on the Board of Regents.
