A shooting in Carlisle County Friday hit close to home for Deputy Coroner Laura Pender.

At approximately 6:45 pm Friday, Kentucky State Police received a call from Carlisle County Deputy Coroner Laura Pender. She phoned 911 to report a shooting that took place outside of her home.

Pender told the 911 dispatcher that her husband, 43 year-old Jay Pender of Milburn, had got into an altercation with her brother that ended with gunfire. The altercation and subsequent shooting led to the death of 49 year-old Scott Daniel McBride of Milburn.

Kentucky State Police Detective Kyle Nall is leading the investigation. He is receiving the assistance of Graves County Coroner Philip McClain and the Carlisle County Sheriffs Department.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have yet been filed.

According to Graves County Coroner Phillip McClain, McBride's death has officially been ruled a homicide. Results of an Autopsy performed Sunday in Louisville confirmed several gunshot wounds killed McBride. McClain confirmed the weapon used in the shooting belonged to Jay Pender. A toxicology report is pending.
