A Ledbetter man was indicted on murder and other charges in the death of a Livingston County teen.

Court records show 19-year-old Tyler Jones was indicted Wednesday on one count each of murder, first-degree burglary and tampering with physical evidence. The charges stem from the shooting death of 15-year-old Peyton Hurt, of Boaz. Police say Jones shot Hurt in the head at close range at a party on June 9.

Police reports indicate that four witnesses identified Jones as the shooter. Reports also show that witnesses told State Troopers Jones and Hurt argued about accusations of him cheating on his fiance', 20-year-old Alexis Johnson. Witnesses said Jones was "in a fit of rage and was striking his truck with his fists."

Jones reportedly gave multiple versions of his story to police, none of which matched what witnesses told them. Police said alcohol, marijuana and other drugs were reportedly used at the party.

If convicted, Jones could face up to life behind bars.
