At a preliminary hearing on Wednesday in Marshall County Court, evidence was presented from the investigation of 54-year-old Billy Lee's death.
Commonwealth Attorney Dennis Foust confirmed that a Benton police officer testified, saying he heard the suspect, 53-year-old Jonathan "Danny" Williams, tell him he didn't mean to kill Lee. Testimony also revealed that Williams told the officer Lee had been selling methamphetamine to his daughter.
Autopsy results from December determined Lee died of multiple blunt force trauma.
After testimony at the hearing, Foust said the judge ruled there was probable cause, and the case should be heard by a grand jury. It is scheduled to meet on February 12.
Benton Police were called to Lee's home on December 1st after he was found dead in his living room by two friends. Police asked for help finding Williams for questioning on December 3, and he turned himself in ten days later.
