The Marshall County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of another possible scam.

According to deputies, a couple was recently contacted by phone and told that their pharmacist or doctor ordered a cancer screening and obtained their Medicare information and address. The couple then received a mouth swab in the mail to complete and send back.

Medicare advised the couple that this was a scam, and they should not complete and send back the mouth swab. Medicare said the couple would be billed later after Medicare denied payment.

The sheriff's office says if you receive this phone call, verify with your medical provider whether it is from them or not and do not provide any of your personal or financial information.
