The latest results from state testing, using the Next Generation Accountability System, show the Marshall County School District ranks 5th among the 174 school districts in the state.  The Next Generation Accountability System consists of measures other than that of just achievement.  Overall scores for elementary schools are based on achievement scores, growth points, and gap points.

Several county schools showed an improvement over last year, while Benton Middle School maintained its position as one of the highest rated middle schools in Kentucky. The school ranked in the 99th percentile, placing 4th out of 321 middle schools and again receiving the classification of Distinguished School of Distinction.

According to district administrators, there is not just one factor that is responsible for the success of Marshall County students, but many factors. Marshall County School Superintendent Trent Lovett stated, “We must prepare our students to compete in a global society and continually work to provide them with the 21st century skills that will be crucial to their success.  Although we will not rest on our laurels, we will take time to celebrate our students’ accomplishments and efforts.”
