Would you like to learn how to read the ground like a book? Caudill, the Director and Chief instructor of the Nature Reliance School, will be offering a one-day course designed for people who have an interest in wildlife study, and anyone with a need for search and rescue and man-tracking skills.
The course will cover the science of tracking, the fundamentals required to understand ground, aerial, and other signs, and how to use tracking for search and rescue (SAR), hunting, and wildlife study.Caudill is the only instructor in the Commonwealth whose courses count towards Continuing Education Credits with the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services. This course will count towards 8 Continuing Education Credits.
He will be partnering with The Bulwarks to bring the class to LBL.
Karen Farthing, Training Coordinator for The Bulwarks, says the course is invaluable.
"Being able to read ground and aerial signs during SAR operations is an invaluable asset for people to possess. Tracking a child through wooded terrain is difficult, but not impossible. The chances for recovery are greatly increased with trained staff and volunteers." Farthing continued, "We at The Bulwarks are dedicated to quality education aimed at increasing the everyday person’s knowledge of self-defense, self-sustainment, and disaster preparedness. Being able to host Craig Caudill for this course is an honor and a privilege."
According to Farthing, the class isn't just useful for those that might need the skills in an emergency situation.
She said, "This is a great course for the amateur or novice Naturalist to learn what sign to look for, how to recognize aging, and how to put those details together to paint a picture or write a story about the creatures living in close proximity with us. It's a wonderful gift to be able to give to anyone who loves animals and nature."
The class will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tickets for the course are $50 for an adult and free for children ages 13-18. You can purchase tickets and learn more at the links below.
