A man faces assault and drug charges, after a domestic disturbance Saturday at a Mayfield home.

The Mayfield Police Department says officers responded at 8 p.m. to a report of a disturbance in the 900 block of South 10th Street. When Officers arrived on scene, a woman told them she had been assaulted by her husband, 45-year-old Damon Travis of Mayfield, and was able to escape to a neighbor's house. Police said witnesses also told them Travis had been physically abusive toward the victim.

Travis reportedly came into the neighbor's home without permission and shoved the homeowner. The victim then fled the neighbor's home toward another nearby home. Travis then fled the scene, and was later found by Mayfield Police Officers.

During the investigation, officers found illegal drugs in the home. They arrested Travis on charges of fourth degree assault, second degree burglary, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and third degree possession of a controlled substance.
