Mayfield Police are warning residents of another potential phone scam in the area.
Mayfield Police say they were contacted Wednesday evening by a concerned citizen who stated they received a fraudulent call from someone claiming to be from Medicare. According to this individual, the caller knew their full name. After speaking with the company for a few minutes, the caller asked the individual to give them their Medicare number.
The citizen stated that the phone number of the caller was just one digit off from the actual Medicare phone number.
The Mayfield Police Department reminds citizens to use caution when releasing personal information over the phone.
If you suspect a potential scam, please call your local law enforcement agency.
