A Graves County woman was arrested Monday night on several charges including assault of a police officer. Deputies said 37-year-old Janie Huerta of 119 Greg Street in Mayfield was allegedly under the influence of drugs or alcohol when she started chasing people in her yard in her pickup truck.

Deputies found Huerta at 139 Greg Street sitting on the porch with an open container of beer under her seat. According to deputies she appeared to be very intoxicated. She was asked to go back to 119 Greg Street where her truck had struck the trailer where she lives with her husband. She refused to do so and was arrested after a short struggle with deputies.

During the struggle, Huerta kicked a deputy twice. Once at the Graves County Jail, Huerta was still combative and threatened one of the deputy jailers.

Huerta was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, two counts of wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, two counts of assault of a police officer, two counts of menacing and one count of disorderly conduct. She was lodged in the Graves County Jail.
