Two men charged in connection with recent drug investigations in Marshall County appeared in court Wednesday.
Court records show Stoney Hendrickson, who is charged with one count of aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance more than 10 grams of fentanyl or fentanyl derivatives, waived his preliminary hearing in Marshall County Circuit Court. Hendrickson also waived formal indictment by a grand jury.
Hendrickson was arrested after an Aug. 28 search warrant of his home reportedly revealed more than 20 Xanax pills laced with fentanyl, along with marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash.
Marshall County Sheriff Eddie McGuire said investigators believe the recent drowning of 14-year-old Brandon Martinez at Kentucky Dam Marina and two other overdose cases are tied to the laced Xanax pills.
Deputies also arrested 21-year-old Nathaniel Erickson after responding last Wednesday to a report of a drug overdose at a Marshall County business. That overdose case was also found to involve the laced Xanax pills, according to deputies.
Erickson is charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in more than 10 grams of Carfentanil or Fentanyl derivatives, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of anabolic steroids and two counts of illegal possession of a legend drug. He waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday. His case will be bound over to a grand jury.
Hendrickson's next court date has been set for Nov. 12.
