Minor Flooding Returns to Some Local Rivers

Some local rivers are forecast to rise to levels of minor flooding later this week.

The Ohio River at Cairo was at 36.2 feet on Sunday afternoon, but could reach minor flood stage of 41.5 feet by Friday morning.

The Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau on Sunday was at 29.8 feet, but has a forecast of minor flooding at 32.5 feet by Wednesday morning.

Upstream from Paducah, the Little Wabash River empties into the Wabash and the Ohio River along Gallatin County, Illinois near Shawneetown. The Little Wabash is forecast to be in flood stage at Carmi, IL by Thursday afternoon.

So far, the Ohio River at Paducah is rising, but is not expected to see any flooding in the immediate future. It is forecast to reach 32.5 feet on Thursday, but flood stage is 39 feet.
