Top dishonors went to Toad Suck, Arkansas, while Monkeys Eyebrow edged out Chicken, Alaska for tenth on the list.
The poll was conducted on the genealogy website Findmypast.com, who asked for responses from people in England, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
"Some people are disconcerted to learn that their forbears came from somewhere called Toad Suck, Roachtown or Monkey's Eyebrow," said website spokesman Josh Taylor.
