A double-murder suspect's competency hearing scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed.

According to the Calloway Circuit Court Clerk, Shannon Scott's hearing will now be held on May 20, before Special Judge Tim Kaltenbach. He ruled in March that a hearing must be held to determine if Scott is fit to stand trial.

Scott faces two charges of murder along with 2nd degree cruelty to animals, 1st degree burglary, tampering with evidence and theft by unlawful taking.

The charges stem from events on February 7, when police say Scott forced his way into the Catalina Drive home where his girlfriend, 37-year-old Tera Todd, lived with and cared for of 77-year-old Evelyn Scott. Police believe Shannon Scott stabbed Todd several times, then slit Evelyn Scott's throat and strangled her small dog. Todd reportedly fled the home to get help and was found dead outside a neighbor's garage.

Kaltenbach was appointed to handle this case after Calloway Circuit Judge Jamie Jameson recused himself. He said there was a conflict of interest.
