A national publication says a western Kentucky school is one of the top high schools in the state. 

The report from U.S. News and World Report released Tuesday ranks Murray High School as Kentucky's fourth best. 

DuPont Manual High School in Louisville ranks as Kentucky's top high school, followed by The Brown School and Highlands High School.

As for other schools in the Jackson Purchase, McCracken County High School came in at No. 45. Paducah Tilghman is ranked 51st.

The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on more than 23,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. More than 17,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.
