Object Causes Flat Tires, 3 Hour Closure on I-24

An object in the road on I-24 caused damage to several vehicles Saturday night, and shut down westbound traffic for hours.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded at 6:53 p.m. to a report of several vehicles with flat tires about six miles east of Eddyville. When they arrived, deputies discovered that 16 vehicles had run over a large metal ramp that had come off of an unknown commercial vehicle.

Westbound traffic was halted for about three hours for cleanup of the scene and so several of the vehicles could be towed away.

There were no injuries.
