Police have released the name of the officer who fatally shot an Almo man Saturday afternoon during an altercation.

According to Kentucky State Police, detectives responded to a report of the shooting at around 1:30 p.m., after learning about the incident.

In a press release, troopers said their investigation revealed Murray Police Officer Justin Swope and a Calloway County Sheriff's Deputy responded to Radio Road in the Dexter community after someone reported a suspicious person in the area. After arriving on the scene there was reportedly an altercation with 42-year-old John Hale, and Swope fatally shot him.

Neither officer was injured in the altercation. No further details about the case have been released.
