One Dead in Mayfield Crash With Dump Truck

A two-vehicle crash in Mayfield Wednesday afternoon claimed a woman's life.

According to the Mayfield Police Department, the crash occurred at the intersection of North 17th Street and State Route 121.

Police said a minivan, driven by 83-year-old Caroline Copeland of Mayfield, pulled from North 17th Street onto State Route 121 into the path of a dump truck, driven by 63-year-old Donald Phelps of Farmington. Phelps was unable to avoid a collision and struck Copeland's van on the driver's side.

Copeland was pronounced dead at the scene. Phelps was not injured.
