The National Weather Service office in Paducah says the status quo will be maintained into the short work week; that is, only scattered storms expected, but the ones that do develop could pack a punch.

Scattered thunderstorms will be possible late Tuesday night right into Thursday, especially over portions of southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois. Although the widespread severe threat looks rather low at this time, isolated strong to severe storms cannot be ruled out, especially Wednesday.

Large hail and damaging wind gusts would be the main storm hazards.

In addition, locally heavy rainfall will be possible, mainly over southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois, if storms can manage to train over the same area.
