A Graves County woman was killed Saturday morning when she was struck by a vehicle.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Department, they were called to the scene in the Sedalia community. Investigation by deputies showed that 84-year-old Glenda Garland was getting mail from her mailbox, and attempted to cross Kentucky Highway 381 to return to her home. She stepped into the northbound lane, and into the path of a vehicle driven by 67-year-old Bob Reed of Tri City. He was unable to avoid striking Garland.

EMS took Garland to Jackson Purchase Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Reed was also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
