A Ballard County man is facing assault charges in Marshall County.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office says deputies were dispatched to an injury collision Wednesday on Industrial Parkway near Calvert City. Upon arrival, deputies learned that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian as well as another vehicle.

The investigation revealed that the driver of one of the vehicles, Ryan Young of LaCenter, appeared to have intentionally struck a female pedestrian prior to striking the other vehicle. He then left the scene.

Young was later located and arrested. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center on charges of 1st degree assault, 4th degree assault, criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident.

The sheriff's office called this a domestic incident. Deputies said the woman struck by Young's vehicle was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, which were not considered life-threatening.
