Police Standoff Ends with Mayfield Man's Arrest

A Mayfield man was arrested Sunday on assault and other charges after a brief standoff with police.

The Mayfield Police Department said officers responded to a report of an assault in the area of South 14th Street. Officers said that when they arrived, Jose Pacheco ran to his home and barricaded himself inside.

Pacheco came out of his home after about two hours and was taken into custody. He was charged with second degree assault and first degree fleeing and evading.

The victim, who had been hit with a glass bottle, was treated for his injuries at Jackson Purchase Medical Center.
