The average price of gasoline across West Central Kentucky is three cents cheaper this week.

According to AAA East Central's Gas Price Report, the average prices in Western Central KY was $2.628. Last week, it was $2.651 and it was $2.769 last year.

On the week, all but one state in the Great Lakes and Central region saw gas prices decrease or stabilize.  Statewide, Kentucky gasoline is four cents cheaper this week on average.

A handful of states in the region are also paying less to fill-up year-over-year.  Motorists in Ohio are seeing the largest yearly decrease at 18 cents followed by Kentucky at 14 cents, Michigan at 12 cents, Iowa at 9 cents, and Mississippi at 7 cents.

Average prices of unleaded self-serve gasoline in various areas:

$2.708        Bowling Green
$2.467        Elizabethtown
$2.904        Louisville
$2.496        Owensboro
$2.567        Paducah

Gas prices are slowly but steadily declining across the country, pushing the national average down three cents on the week to $2.86.  Today's average is four cents cheaper than last month and the same price as one year ago.

Gas prices are decreasing despite the Energy Information Administration's (EIA) latest reports which show an increase in demand to summer-like levels and a decrease in gasoline stocks. The move to cheaper gas prices indicates that demand and supply are potentially leveling out.
