With the possibility of some wintry mixed precipitation early Sunday morning, crews from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be watching the weather over the weekend.

The Sunday forecast includes a chance of rain, freezing rain and snow in the pre-dawn hours, followed by rain through the rest of Sunday. The possibility of rain before temperatures go below freezing means pre-treating roads would be ineffective, since salt would be washed away.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews pre-loaded salt trucks on Friday. However, if ice develops, crews would likely have limited ability to improve driving conditions, so drivers should carefully monitor the weather and use caution if traveling in the early morning hours on Sunday.

Temperatures should reach the low 40s Sunday afternoon, so any hazardous conditions should be gone rather quickly.
