Representative Steven Rudy (R-Paducah) was honored with a “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award Monday night at the City of Fulton Board of Commissioners meeting.  The “Friend of Kentucky Cities” award is given by the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) to legislators who perform outstanding work in the legislature advocating for issues that impact cities across the state.

“I am truly humbled to receive this award,” said Rep. Steven Rudy. “I want to thank the Kentucky League of Cities for this honor. Since our historic victory in November, the Republican majority in Frankfort has put a premium on job creation, fiscal responsibility, and disallowing bloated government from infringing on economic opportunity for Kentuckians. My colleagues and I share the same goal of serving our districts as well as we possibly can. I am motivated to do right by the people that I am honored to represent, and I will continue to work every day for the values and needs of the Jackson Purchase.”

“Representative Rudy has continued to show a willingness to work on behalf of Kentucky cities,” said J.D. Chaney, KLC deputy executive director. “In the 2017 legislative session Representative Rudy sponsored House Bill 337, which was a KLC initiative that modified reimbursement criteria for local law enforcement training. The new law helps cities bear the cost of training more equitably. Representative Rudy also carried Senate Bill 11 in the House to lift the moratorium on nuclear power plants in Kentucky.”

Jonathan Steiner, executive director/CEO of the Kentucky League of Cities, also commended Representative Rudy: “Representative Rudy has been a strong voice for Kentucky cities in Frankfort. He has consistently championed measures that support home rule. We appreciate his support and are pleased to have the opportunity to award his dedication to issues impacting municipalities.”
