Marshall County School Superintendent Trent Lovett is sending a stark warning against terroristic threatening.

In a letter sent out Wednesday, Lovett made it clear that their function is to provide the safest learning environment possible for all students and staff member.

Lovett states that although it has been their mission to provide a safe environment, the school has continued to receive a number of terroristic threats from students threatening to do harm to other students and staff members.

According to Lovett, from January 23 and April 30 of 2018, schools throughout Kentucky experienced 294 terroristic threats, causing major disruption as the schools would have to be closed so that law enforcement could perform a proper investigation.

Lovett goes on to say that the threats are totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated, and serves as a warning that "school district officials will pursue immediate legal charges for terroristic threatening in the second degree (which is a felony) to the absolute fullest extent of the law, against anyone who makes such threats, including students."

Lovett urges parents to discuss the issue with their children.
