A shoplifting call led to a Mayfield man's arrest on drug charges.

The Mayfield Police Department received a call on Sunday about a woman and two men who had reportedly shoplifted from a store on Paris Road. Police say the vehicle had left the area before officers arrived.

Police were able to obtain a description of the vehicle and photographs of its occupants. An officer spotted the vehicle in the parking lot of another store on West Farthing Street.

While attempting to detain the occupants in the vehicle, the driver began resisting and a scuffle ensued. Officers located the stolen merchandise from two stores, along with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Police arrested 51-year-old Kevin Carr of Mayfield on charges of possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Thirty-five-year-old Laura Williams of Mayfield was arrested on two counts of theft by unlawful taking.

Both were lodged in the Graves County Jail.
