A judge has granted a motion to suppress some of the statements made by a former McCracken County High School fishing coach in the sex abuse and child pornography case against him.

John Parks was arrested on Feb. 14, after McCracken County Sheriff's deputies were contacted by Kentucky State Police in reference to allegations he had inappropriate sexual contact with a student.

McCracken County Circuit Judge Tim Kaltenbach issued a ruling on Oct. 29 granting defense attorney Emily Roark's Sept. 29 request to suppress statements made by Parks to investigators after he requested an attorney.

According to the order, detectives continued to question Parks for about two hours after he made the request.

Kaltenbach notes in his order that all questioning should have stopped until an attorney could be present.
