The Kentucky State Police is investigating possible criminal misconduct involving members of the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office.

Adam Jones with Kentucky State Police Post One told WKDZ his agency received the complaint and opened an investigation but he did not provide any other details or say which officers may be involved.

The Trigg County Fiscal Court met in Executive session on Monday night. The executive session lasted for 40 minutes regarding a personnel matter, but there was no action taken.

Judge-executive Hollis Alexander told WKDZ he was made aware of the investigation in April and said it was his understanding the FBI is involved as well.

Jones told WKDZ the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office has assigned a special prosecutor in the event someone is charged.

Jason Barnes was elected sheriff of Trigg County in 2018 after defeating two-term Sheriff Ray Burnam in the Republican primary. WKDZ tried to get a comment on the investigation from Barnes Tuesday afternoon, but were unsuccessful.
