A Graves County man was shot early Thursday morning after authorities say he kicked in a home's door.

Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden says a 74-year-old resident on KY Highway 1710 called 911 at around 3 a.m. to report a masked man with a shotgun had forced his way into the home. The homeowner met the suspect and the suspect reportedly fled in a vehicle.

At around 4:45 a.m. the resident called 911 reporting a man with a shotgun had kicked in his door again, but this time he shot the intruder with a shotgun. The intruder then fled on foot.

Minutes later, Mayfield Police officers found 19-year-old James Page II in the road near the home with a severe shotgun wound to his arm. Deputies also recovered a shotgun from Page.

Page was later airlifted to an out of state hospital for treatment of injuries that are believed to be non life-threatening.

Page has been charged with first-degree burglary and other related charges. The resident who shot him is not facing any criminal charges.
