Jasmine Rupcke was arraigned this week in Graves County, where she entered a not guilty plea to all charges. Rupcke was appointed a public defender, and her case was set for a preliminary hearing March 20, at 1:00 pm.
According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, Rupcke was driving the van that struck and killed a pedestrian, Amanda Czerwien of Mayfield, on Dec. 17. The collision happened around 6:00 pm on US 45 North, as Czerwien had just finished work at Pilgrim's Pride and was walking home.
After the collision, Rupcke allegedly drove to a friend's home and called police, telling them she had hit a deer on US 45 North and needed to make a report. Troopers went to the friend's home and determined that Rupcke's vehicle had struck Czerwien.
Rupcke was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid/assist with death/serious physical injury, failure to produce an insurance card, failure to register transfer of motor vehicle and no operator's license.
