TVA, Murray Electric Make Donation to Need Line

CALLOWAY COUNTY - Murray Electric System has partnered with TVA to make a significant donation to the Murray-Calloway County Need Line.

In a Thursday press release, Murray Electric System announced a partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority to provide a $20,000 donation to the Murray-Calloway County Need Line. The Murray Electric System's Board of Directors put forward $10,000, which was matched by TVA's COVID-19 Community Care Fund.

The Community Care Fund was created to help local power companies meet the immediate needs of communities by providing matching funds for any local initiatives addressing hardships created by COVID-19.

The Murray Calloway County Need Line was formed 46-years-ago with the goal of helping anyone in need within the community. In 2019, Need Line participated in 12,575 food distributions, 10,958 food backpacks for children, and monthly groceries for 315 seniors. They have also provided help with utilities, rent, medication, and transportation for 1,273 applicants.
