An injury accident with a semi blocked the Western Kentucky Parkway Thursday morning near Nortonville.

Kentucky State Police said 59-year-old Alfred Louis Gansert III, of Union City, TN, was operating a tractor-trailer and attempted to make an illegal U-turn. The tractor-trailer collided with a truck hauling a gooseneck trailer operated by 47-year-old Timothy Shaw, of Union City, TN.

The tractor-trailer blocked both eastbound lanes. Shaw's vehicle traveled across the median, both westbound lanes, and exited roadway.

Gansert was taken to Baptist Health Madisonville for treatment of injuries.

Shaw and his three passengers, 62-year-old Perry Barfield, of Troy, TN, 51-year-old David McCullough, also of Troy, TN, and 29-year-old Steven McCullough, of Montgomery, AL, sustained possible injuries, but were not transported for treatment.

Gansert was charged with an improper turn and reckless driving.
