The Kentucky State Police have released the name of the trooper involved in a shooting earlier this week in Webster County.

Kentucky State Police say Master Trooper William Braden is a sixteen year veteran, and is on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.

Braden shot and injured 30-year-old Alex Harvey, who had gained control of a Clay Police Department cruiser and was dragging Clay Police Chief Chris Evitts while accelerating toward Braden.

Police said Harvey and another man were handcuffed in the back of separate police vehicles as officers secured evidence from a Webster County home in a counterfeit money investigation. The statement says Harvey was handcuffed, but managed to get into the front of the police car.

Evitts was treated and released at a local hospital, while Harvey was taken to an Evansville hospital for treatment of his wounds.

Harvey is expected to face counterfeiting and assault charges.
