The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced the first phase of a US 641 widening project on the south edge of Murray, starting next week.

Preparation for construction will get underway from the intersection of US 641 and Glendale Road to the Clarks River Bridge.

The construction will eventually extend to the Kentucky-Tennessee state line near Hazel.

The entire project is expected to take two years, with the next phase of construction beginning in early spring. Officials anticipate traffic to remain restricted to two lanes throughout the two-year process, with some intermittent periods of one-lane traffic.
